Octoberfest

Sumner Commercial Club members are gearing up for its third-annual Octoberfest celebration, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, in the downtown and Carpenter Street areas. Live music and entertainment will be provided by Mark Frana from Charles City from 11 am - 3 pm.

Events scheduled include the chili cookoff, antique tractor display, scarecrow contest, golf cart rides on the hiking/biking trail, FFA produce contest, kids games, street chalk art, a quilt display and dedication ceremony.

Events schedule includes:

11:00 am - 1:00 pm / Chili Cookoff

11:00 am / Street chalk - open to everyone

1:00 - 3:00 pm / Golf cart rides on the hiking/biking trail

2:00 pm / Plaque presentation at Cindy Potratz Tribute Park for Dr. W.L. Whitmire, Dr. James Whitmire and Dr. Norman Elmer

Scarecrows on Main, a popular contest from last year, is also returning. Call Holly Schemmel at 319.231.2520 to sign up
